I came across so many self-advertisement on KPLSPM (Teaching training course for SPM school leavers).
It's all over Facebook.
My seniors, my juniors endlessly posting the same thing, encouraging their juniors/brothers/sisters/unrelated human beings to join this course.
I'm not against nor for it.
Why?
I'm in the system, I should be for it.
But no, there's mixed feelings to that. The recent intake is considered the lowest intake ever done by MOE, considering the amount of SPM leavers out there. I was one before. Competition was there, but barely. Now that I'M IN THE SYSTEM, I see things unfold. The motives of decreasing the number of intakes each year and increase another whole new system that is ridiculous.
And to think how noble can the profession be when it is being tainted by a few rotten apples.
I listen. I share. I observe.
All these tiny things towards becoming a teacher, an English teacher (bigger word!), gain me insight to what actually the government wants.
To achieve the nation's aspirations?
To produce well-balanced individuals?
To be able to compete internationally?
So far-fetched in the progress.
I'm truly disturbed by the attitude of teachers (or even teacher trainees) who do not aim higher each day, sitting comfortably in their zone, not wanting to bring changes to the system. I believe it's a time for reformation.
Mentality.
If you ask me how does it work, whatever you're doing is a result of your mentality. When I'm writing this, it's a result of my mentality. When you're reading, it's your mentality as well. Then you begin judging me, disapproving of what I wrote because you have a different mentality. Or you merely nods, seeing some truth behind the lines. That's mentality.
KPLSPM is not a bad programme for enthusiasts in teaching.
For those who are hardly the enthusiasts, well to be honest, I'm still looking for my ground. I do not wish to be a teacher to react to the ever so changing policy but to create one.
The money I receive from this programme is a plus point but as I go along, somehow it doesn't matter. Money comes and go.
I liked this programme - hiccups here and there, nevertheless inspiring. Maybe the educators I have around me inspire me so much that I strive to be better.
