Such a bittersweet celebration, close to my family and far from You.
It’s not going to be a fantastic post, or even with any hint of more than ordinary. Just the usual Happy Birthday post to myself. This year, I want to go all melancholic about celebration.
I remember when I was young, like real young, my parents like to throw a birthday party for my twin sister and I. I don’t know how about you but I have that kind of “traditional cake eating” parents. Every birthday means every celebration. Either big or small, they’ll have to make sure there’s a cake on the table with candles. I enjoyed the company I had back then with tons of presents to be opened at the end of the day. To be honest, I expected the presents when people come to join me in the celebration. Being young is the truest part in our life.
As I moved in the teenage life, I started to loathe any home celebration with relatives swarming me. Teenage crisis, I called. I was quite an anti-crowd during those times that I would throw tantrum if my parents decided to throw a big party. I have to make sure they invite only selected relatives (okay, I sound like a brat here) so that I would be happy. During these times also, I started going out with my classmates more often than I could imagine. I felt more comfortable celebrating with them, well actually secure. Undoubtedly, I always acted as a brat in getting my ways.
Now.
Guess I feel tired of any bombastic celebration. I didn’t see it will come that soon but not afraid to admit that I just want a cupcake and blow the candle, off to bed and that’s it. Of course, having it with the love of my life is an add-on. I don’t seem to care anymore if anyone gives me a present. I feel so appreciated when my friends gave me a card wishing me Happy Birthday. The contents are the best ‘coz the sincerity of these wishes is beyond words. Sometimes, these little things can make up your birthday. I stop being a brat, I stop wanting things I wanted and sooner or later, I stop celebrating my age.

To be reminded of the age is something I don’t look forward to.
And again, I can never thank God enough for giving me another year to live. HE gave me this chance to live, repent and live the life I’m supposed to live. Someone I love (and vice versa) used to tell me that I should thank God for each day I live because it only means another chance is given each day. Brilliant words, don’t you think? =)
Happy Birthday, Barb.
Happy Birthday, Debb.
Even though there’s this *insert finger* gap in height, we are going to be the coolest twins around. I can curse her 24/7, the best part ever =D
Finally.
I enjoy being cursed, the BEST-EST-EST part ever.
